Before coming to the “ Write the Story, Change Your Life ” workshop, I already had prior knowledge because I studied mass communication and was interested in writing. Upon joining the workshop, I realized that this curriculum is about writing for self-healing and self-therapy. When I did the assignments, I saw that the work I was doing connected with the community and the primary healthcare system. I then understood that I could write to communicate the importance of the primary healthcare system and its people. It felt like telling their story. If we receive support, understand our own goals, and work together with other team in our community, there will be power in that.
Another point is that after listening to others involved in public health work, I became clearer about what knowledge, skills, and resources I have. I want to use that to help others who care for people, to empower them so that they can continue to care for others. If we are given a space to talk openly, a dialogue space, a ” Dialogue Aesthetic”,” which is one of the processes of “Chu Jai” art that I practice, it can be a safe space for us all. There will be activities that empower each other, which will help untangle misunderstandings and help us understand each other more deeply.
” Write the Story, Change Your Life ” made me realize that listening to others involved in public health work also helped me become clearer about my own knowledge and skills. I want to return that energy to those who are working to care for others, to empower them, so they can continue to care for others. If we are given space for open dialogue, such as the ” Dialogue Aesthetic ” process in “Chu Jai” art, it will create a safe space for one another. There will be activities that can recharge us, helping to clear up misunderstandings and fostering mutual understanding.
